The 9th Annual Interactive Fiction Competition

Welcome to IFComp 2003, the competition for short text adventures.

News

17 November: Competition t-shirts, both short- and long-sleeved, are available for a limited time. Order yours before November 24th and impress all of your friends with your erudition and taste.

16 November: The results are in! Congratulations to the top three games: Slouching Towards Bedlam, Risorgimento Represso, and Scavenger, as well as to all authors for entering and all judges for voting. The full results are available below.

5 October: The original version of the game Cerulean Stowaway used a quirk of earlier TADS virtual machines that no longer works under TADS VM 2.5.8, causing a bug that prevents the game from being finished. If you are running an interpreter earlier than 2.5.8, you should be fine; otherwise, please use the new version that avoids this bug.

30 September: The game little girl in the big world was mistakenly filed as a Windows game. It doesn't require Windows, though a Windows executable is included. It can be played under any browser that supports Javascript, or by use of Perl. If you did not download the game because you were on a non-Windows system, please download and play it.

29 September: The AGT game Curse of Manorland was accidentally left out of the Windows game installer, IFComp2003.exe. If your version of IFComp2003.exe did not install the game, please download the game separately.

29 September: The games are now available for your downloading pleasure, and the voting page is open.

Current Status

The competition has ended, and the results are now available. The top three games are Slouching Towards Bedlam, Risorgimento Represso, and Scavenger. The winners of the Miss Congeniality Contest, chosen by the authors themselves, are Slouching Towards Bedlam, Risorgimento Represso, and Gourmet.
