Welcome to IFComp 2007, the competition for short text adventures.
16 November: The votes have been tabulated, and we have our winners! Congratulations to the top three games, Lost Pig, An Act of Murder, and Lord Bellwater's Secret, as well as to all authors for entering. And a big note of thanks to everyone who judged the games. The full results are available below.
14 November: The game Adventure XT has been disqualified for violating Author Rule 1: do not use copyrighted works in your game unless parodying them or receiving permission from the copyright holder.
29 October: The game Vampyre Cross has been disqualified for violating Author Rule 4: games must be unreleased at the beginning of the competition.
22 October: There is now a walkthrough for Jealousy Duel X.
9 October: The game Ghost of the Fireflies has a bug that renders it unwinnable: you are unable to buy anything at the shop due to the game thinking you have no gold. There is no workaround.
30 September (a little later): The games are now available for downloading, and the game information and voting page is open.
30 September: We're processing the games prior to releasing them.
1 September: Authors may no longer sign up for the competition.
30 April: The web site is open for business. Authors may sign up, while those who are interested can learn more about how to judge in the competition or can donate prizes.
The competition has ended, and the results are now available. The top three games are Lost Pig, An Act of Murder, and Lord Bellwater's Secret. The winners of the Miss Congeniality Contest, chosen by the authors themselves, are Lost Pig, An Act of Murder, and Orevore Courier.
For the last thirteen years, the readers of the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.int-fiction have held a yearly interactive fiction competition. For fans of the old Infocom games as well as for newcomers to the genre, the competition is a chance to enjoy some of the best short adventure games available anywhere.
The organizer for the 2007 competition is Stephen Granade. Thanks go to all who have volunteered their time and energy to make this competition happen over the years. Special thanks go to Geof Morris, Mark Musante, Lucian Smith, Mike Snyder, Stefan Donati, and Misty Granade.
